Joe’s vision for 1Shot Academy stemmed from a simple realisation: many golfers struggle not due to a lack of talent, but due to inconsistent training and guidance. Witnessing players hit a plateau in their skills, Joe set out to create a solution – a structured, accessible, and comprehensive coaching program tailored to golfers at all levels.

In 2023, I founded 1 Shot Golf Academy with a simple goal in mind—to provide the best all-around, tailored coaching experience for every golfer. My approach focuses on creating lasting improvement, moving beyond the typical one-off lessons that rarely deliver long-term results. This method has been extremely popular with clients, leading to the growth of the academy with the addition of a second coach who specialises in junior and women’s coaching.
I have had the privilege of coaching golfers of all levels, from beginners and club players to county-level competitors and tour professionals. Over the past three years, I have worked closely with former Ryder Cup Captain and 18-time Tour winner Mark James, contributing to his impressive top-10 finish on the Legends Tour.
Alongside our in-person sessions, I offer online coaching to golfers around the world through platforms such as Snead and Skillest, bringing personalised guidance to players wherever they are.

Lucy Eaton.
I’m Lucy Eaton, a passionate golf coach with over 17 years of experience in the sport. I’ve been fortunate to play in both the UK and the US, where my journey as a former US Women’s Golf Scholar saw me captaining the Women’s Golf Team at Florida Tech University and leading the team to victory in the US Women’s Division 2 National Championship.
I joined 1 Shot Golf Academy in early 2024 and have quickly established a strong reputation for coaching in the Skipton area. Since joining, I’ve introduced a successful women’s development program, bringing over 70 new women into the sport. My tailored follow-up programs have supported many of these newcomers, helping them take their first steps on the course and continue their journey in golf.
I have a certification in safeguarding children in golf, which allows me to create a safe and supportive environment for all my students. Throughout my coaching career, I have focused on empowering women and junior golfers, guiding them to develop their skills and a genuine love for the game.

Absolutely brilliant, I’ve tried a few coaches before going to Joe and they have all had varying success. It was after I had a lesson that I wasn’t happy with that I decided to go see Joe and after telling him what I had been told previously he explained the flaws with this approach before showing me the correct ways I should be trying to correct my issues. Since then I have been having lessons regularly with Joe for over a year and he has taken me from a high teen handicap to a single figure. Not only has Joe told me what he thinks is wrong but if I am unable to feel comfortable with a change he has made he does not push for that change to happen, he allows me as the golfer to try and find what feels best for me. In his words “there is no point reinventing your swing, we just need to make tweaks” this is perfect for me as the last thing I want is to go back to square one! Not only does Joe help with the swing aspect of golf but he has also helped me massively with my knowledge of the game and my decision making when playing. I would recommend Joe to anyone who asks.

I’m allot more confident going into my first full season of golf with Joes help. My iron striking hard improved dramatically and I’m learning how to shape a shot with the driver.

I nearly walked away from golf last year. I thought I’d give it one more ‘go with Joe’. I can’t recommend the subscription package enough. Yes it’s a commitment and yes you have to put the time in, but if you are passionate about golf, want to succeed, maybe lower your handicap or enhance your game it’s a win win. I’ve particularly appreciated the after lesson videos and feedback so when I’m practicing later I’ve always a reference to look back on. I’m excited about next year and what we can achieve. My handicap is already down by 7 with plans for an even lower handicap incoming!!
